Written In The Landscape was a research and community education project focussed on records held by Argyll Papers and Argyll Council. Part of this wide-ranging project was the devising of drama workshops for local schools around Campbeltown, based on records of reported mermaid sightings and other fantastical events. The local Sherrif, an ancestor of author J K Rowling, convened hearings in the early 19th century to dispone local residents who claimed to have seen mermaids and witnessed miracles.
The workshops engaged the children with the records, the personalities involved and the stories they told.
