Bringing It Home

Bringing It Home

Bringing It Home was a project for secondary school students created by Hawick Heritage Hub in Hawick, Scottish Borders. It is based on newspaper reports and letters related to the local volunteer battalion which was formed in 1914 after a recruitment drive in the area. Deployed to the Gallipoli Peninsula in 1915, the battalion experienced devastating losses in July 1915; an event which still solemnly commemorated in the town today.

Bringing It Home uses research approaches and dramatic re-enactment to explore the experience of the soldiers and of their families back home, receiving news through letters and official despatches.
