Revised SCA Constitution September 2019

Revised SCA Constitution September 2019

As part of a review of the Scottish Council on Archives’ membership offering and structure, trustees agreed to consider changes to simplify the process of becoming a member.  Members are asked to consider a Special Resolution to amend the existing SCIO Constitution by adopting a new SCIO Constitution in entire substitution, a copy of which can be viewed here.

The changes at clauses: 2.1, 5.1, 5.7, 6.2, 6.7 and 10 are explained in red in the right hand margin.    Most of the changes relate to the recommendations made by the Membership Strategy Working Group and approved by the board, regarding the SCA membership structure.  These recommendations are that the Corporate and Associate Members status be removed leaving only Individual and Organisational Members.

There are a number of other proposed changes which are all marked in red.   Also, the word ‘Chairman’ has been changed to ‘Chair’ throughout the document.
