Advocacy

The Scottish Council on Archives has an important role to play in advocating on behalf of the archives and records management sector.  Advocacy is one of the six strategic objectives in our Strategic Plan 2019-21.  Through our work, we advocate the benefits that wider engagement with archives can deliver as well as their impact in areas such as accountability, wellbeing, tourism, and culture.  We also advocate the importance of good records management both in terms of compliance with the Public Records (Scotland) Act 2011 and as evidence of good governance and business management.

The SCA Advocacy Working Group brings together archivists, records managers and conservators to help them become better advocates for the sector and to inform and prioritise SCA’s advocacy-related work.
