Glasgow Area Disaster Planning Network
The Glasgow Area Disaster Planning Network (GADPN), is a network offering support, knowledge and help to members should a disaster occur in any of the participants’ repositories.
The Network was initiated in 2004 by the Scottish Screen Archive. Since 2018, the Network operates by holding one meeting a year in November/December and maintains a contact list for its members. Our primary purpose is to offer help to its members should a disaster occur in any of their repositories (in 2014 the group supported the recovery of The Glasgow School of Art’s archives following a major fire in the School’s Mackintosh Building). From 2004 to 2017 the Group held regular meetings and organised training events across Scotland. As a result of these activities, members have become more aware of the need to be prepared and feel better equipped to deal with an emergency should one arise.
In order to join you have to be an archive service based in Glasgow City or surrounding areas, e.g. the former Dunbartonshire, Lanarkshire and Renfrewshire areas. Each member organisation is required to have an up-to-date disaster plan. For further details please see our Terms of Reference document below and get in touch with us here.
