The Scottish Council on Archives (SCA) has launched two new online toolkits to help archivists, records managers, and organisations across the UK and Ireland manage collections and records more effectively.
The Deposited Collections Online Toolkit provides practical guidance, model agreements, case studies, and advocacy materials to support archivists and archive holders in managing deposited and loaned collections. It was developed by SCA with consultants Kazky, led by consultants Kevin Bolton and Larysa Bolton.
The Accessible Records Management Online Toolkit offers plain-language guidance, templates, and case studies for people with records management responsibilities who are newly qualified or working without formal training — including staff in charities, small public bodies, community organisations, and private businesses. It was developed by SCA with Leadership Through Data, led by consultant Rachel Mitchell.
Both toolkits were generously supported by grants from the Archives and Records Association (UK and Ireland) Research, Development and Advocacy Fund, and developed in consultation with SCA’s Deposited Collections Working Group and Records Management Working Group, respectively.
