The Business Archives Council of Scotland will hold its 2022 annual conference and AGM on Thursday 24 November 2022 from 10:00. The conference will be a hybrid event with in person attendance at our venue in Edinburgh and an online option via MS Teams.
As the world adapts to the new normal in the aftermath of the Covid-19 pandemic, the Business Archive Council of Scotland have decided to go ‘Back to Basics’. This conference is an opportunity to explore core record keeping principles and practices and reflect on whether any changes necessitated by the pandemic have become part of your new normal?
The organisers are looking for short presentations (either 20-30 minutes or shorter lightening talks if you prefer) on the subject of record keeping basics from collections development and cataloguing to digital preservation and outreach. This may include topics covering:
- How have accessions practices changed in the last 3 years?
- Catalogue review projects and case studies
- Focus on digital preservation advancement
- Case studies about improvements to workflows and processes
- Outreach and advocacy projects
- Any other topics relating to the basics of record keeping.
The deadline for submission is Monday 3 October by 17:00.
Please email expressions of interest and ideas to Karyn Williamson, Karyn.Williamson@abrdn.com. Any questions can also be directed to the same email address.
Registration for the conference will be available in October via the BACS eventbrite page.
