SCA is delighted that the UK Archive Service Accreditation Committee has announced that North Lanarkshire Archives  has been awarded Accreditation status.

John Pelan, SCA Director, said

Many congratulations to North Lanarkshire Archives.  The Accredited Archive Service status is richly deserved and highlights the fantastic work done by this small but ambitious archive, providing community benefits and collaborating with partners in the Heritage Centre.

Working toward and achieving Accredited Archive status demonstrates North Lanarkshire’s Archives’ commitment to providing the highest possible quality service for its users.”

Heather Liddle, Active & Creative Communities Manager at North Lanarkshire Council said:

“North Lanarkshire Archives are dedicated to preserving and making accessible the archive heritage of the area.

Our records date from the 16th to the 21st century and tell of the transformation from agricultural area, to one of Scotland’s main centres of manufacturing and heavy industry, and through to the post-industrial era. Thanks to an Archives Revealed grant, we are currently cataloguing and promoting our Cumbernauld New Town collection.

We are delighted that the panel has acknowledged the impressive service offer and successful collaborative working with our partners. The team has shown great commitment to continuous improvement and worked tirelessly to achieve the standards required for this award.”
