Family Tree and History Scotland have joined forces to present Scottish Family History Month 2025, a series of online talks taking place from 3 to 26 February to explore Scottish ancestry and heritage.
Now in its fourth year, Scottish Family History Month is supported by National Records of Scotland and The University of Strathclyde and will feature some of the best speakers from the world of Scottish family history. Each of the five expert sessions includes:
· A 45-minute Zoom talk, followed by a 30-minute audience Q&A
· Insights into lesser-known records and information sources
· Sessions are recorded and available to view on-demand until 30 March 2025, making them accessible for participants in any time zone
From learning how to decipher historical records to uncovering stories of Scottish ancestors who lived through pivotal moments in history, the online event will provide family historians with the chance to improve their understanding of Scottish records and take their research back further.
Family Tree Publisher Matt Hill said: “Scottish Family History Month has become part of the calendar for hundreds of family historians, and this year promises to be another informative, inspiring event, with acclaimed speakers sharing their expertise on Scottish ancestry – a subject that resonates right around the world, with Scotland’s diaspora stretching to all continents. We’re delighted that National Records Scotland and the University of Strathclyde are continuing to support the event, and both organisations will also be presenting talks, enhancing our already impressive line-up.
“With millions of people worldwide claiming Scottish ancestry, this event offers an invaluable opportunity to reconnect with your roots, no matter where you are.”
