Museum of Scottish Railways Archive Named 2024/25 Scottish Community Archive of the Year
The Museum of Scottish Railways Archive has been named Scottish Community Archive of the Year
2024/25 by the Scottish Council on Archives (SCA), recognising its outstanding work in preserving and
sharing Scotland’s rail heritage through community engagement and archival excellence.

The award will be presented on Wednesday, 3 April 2025, at the Scottish Railway Museum in Bo’ness.
A bespoke handcrafted award has been commissioned from Make it Glasgow CIC, a not-for-profit
social enterprise run by ceramic artists. Their creative practice explores Scotland’s industrial pottery
heritage, bringing a unique cultural and material connection to this year’s award.

The archive was selected as part of the SCA’s A Year in the Life of a Community Archive project
with a dedicated online feature documenting the museum’s work in digitisation, volunteering, and
storytelling.
