For more than two decades TownsWeb Archiving have worked on some of the country’s rarest and most incredible archives, resulting in the formation of a dedicated and hugely specialised team of technicians who have developed a series of tailored workflows producing high quality results for every type of material.
The company made the decision to share these workflows in a series of How to Digitise guides, to help protect those delicate and valuable archives where organisations had chosen to digitise inhouse rather than outsource to specialist providers.
TownsWeb Archiving have announced the complete overhaul of their free online resources for digitisation. The content has been reviewed, new contributions made, images updated, and have now all been gathered into their own dedicated resource area, for quick and easy access. The new look How to Digitise guides can be found on the TownsWeb Archiving website and are freely accessible.
Get Digitsation Ready – eBook
These digitsation resources include TownsWeb Archiving’s free digitisation eBook, Get Digitisation Ready, which is split into two parts. Part one was released at the end of 2021 and focussed on digitisation planning, funding, digitising inhouse, outsourcing digitisation and the calculation of likely costs. The recently released part two shines a light on the guidelines that you should be following, the equipment options available, and how to build an outreach strategy. You can download both eBooks here.
The two-part eBook will serve to make the digitisation process more accessible and, as a result, more archives will be protected for the benefit of everyone.
