This year, National Records of Scotland and the Scottish Council on Archives have partnered with The National Archives, Welsh Government, Archives and Records Council Wales, and Public Record Office of Northern Ireland to create an annual survey of the archive sector for the whole of the UK .
This annual survey provides standardised baseline data that we need to gain a rich and consistent picture of the whole archive sector in Scotland, and the UK as a whole. The survey results will support effective advocacy on behalf of archives, locally, regionally and nationally. After the survey closes, a report, as well as the survey dataset, will be published on The National Archives’ website so that archives can benchmark their performance against other services.
Access the Survey here: https://www.smartsurvey.co.uk/s/UKArchiveSectorSurvey2025/
The deadline for completing this survey is Monday 31 March 2025.
Please note, each archive service only needs to submit one response, even if they operate from multiple sites.
On the TNA website you can find more information about the survey and a downloadable word document which will help you to plan your answers to each question. Please note, final responses must be made through the online survey link.
If you have any questions, please feel free to contact Jane Brown, Head of Archive Liaison and Strategy, National Records of Scotland (jane.brown@nrscotland.gov.uk) or Robert Wright, Programmes and Operations Manager, Scottish Council on Archives (r.wright@scottisharchives.org.uk).
Thank you in advance for participating.
