SCOTLAND’S HISTORIC ENVIRONMENT STRATEGY CONSULTATION FOR THE ARCHIVES AND RECORDS SECTOR
Tuesday 14 February 2023, 14:00-15:30
MS Teams

The Scottish Council on Archives and National Records of Scotland invite you to an online workshop to discuss a new strategy for Scotland’s historic environment.

Scotland’s first historic environment strategy, Our Place in Time, (OPiT) was published in 2014.  Historic Environment Scotland have been commissioned by Neil Gray, Minister for Culture, Europe and International Development, to conduct a review of the strategy. They have been asked to work with stakeholders to prioritise activity that supports economic recovery and renewal, focuses on creating a more resilient and sustainable historic environment, and helps to communicate the contribution that the historic environment makes to the nation.

Archives and records are an important element of the historic environment both as tools for understanding and celebrating Scotland’s past but also as important historic assets in their own right. SCA and NRS are keen that the archives and records sector is recognised within the new strategy which will be a document that everyone who works in culture and heritage in Scotland can use to inform and direct their own work.

All archivists and records managers in Scotland are welcome to attend this online event which will be facilitated by John Pelan, Director of the Scottish Council on Archives and Martin Conlon, OPiT Engagement Manager, Historic Environment Scotland.
