Community Archives – Challenges and Opportunities Glasgow

You are invited by the Scottish Council on Archives (SCA) to attend a free workshop to explore obstacles and opportunities around managing and sharing community archival material, including documents, photographs, oral histories, and digital files.

Areas discussed will include:

Managing digital records (including file formats, storage, digitisation

Online content (including web editing, online cataloguing)

Archive skills (including cataloguing, conservation, funding)

Engagement (including engaging users, organisations, volunteers, social media)

This workshop is part of a project called ‘Everyone’s Stories Matter’, which SCA is delivering as its contribution to a wider research programme funded by the Arts and Humanities Research Council (AHRC).

It is hoped that the work will identify ways for local and national organisations to help communities engage with and manage heritage better.

Refreshments will be provided.

A full or partial contribution to travel (and accommodation, if required) costs for group representatives travelling to the venue can be claimed but must be agreed in advance. More than one representative from each group can attend and claim expenses.
