How do we create interesting and engaging education materials from archive records?

A one-day professional development workshop for archivists and heritage staff with SCA Education Officer Douglas Roberts.

Explore how to choose appropriate records, reveal their educational potential, create engaging age and curriculum-relevant activities around them, and set them into a learning context for teachers, students or community groups.

Through the day we’ll look at enquiry-based and active learning approaches which go beyond traditional classroom methodologies, and review some exemplars of good practice. There will also be time to exchange ideas and collaborate to create some new materials, so bring along one or two interesting records from your own collections to work with.

The workshop is particularly relevant for archives staff and heritage officers who work with schools, youth organisations and community groups.
