Susanne Erbida

Susanne moved to the Isle of Lewis five years ago and has been very busy over the past year moving from Stornoway to a more remote location on Lewis with her partner after purchasing a house with a croft. She has also been very busy creating and implementing the first Stornoway Pride event which attracted people from all over the Hebrides. Her interview follows Susanne recalling the immediate success and overwhelmingly positive response of the local communities towards Stornoway’s first Pride event and the impressive rate at which it grew year on year. Unfortunately, 2020 and 2021 Stornoway Pride had to be cancelled which Susanne discusses along with the logistics of the event and the joy it has brought to so many people in the Hebrides. Susanne also runs the Lewis and Harris Horticultural Producers through which she helps to run the weekly farmers market in Stornoway which was impacted by lockdown but also encouraged more members of the community to shop local.  Finally, she also speaks of her own personal lockdown experience on her croft and remote working which was a mostly positive experience – but she also worried for her family who live in Austria and really missed the gyms being closed!
