Kerri Smith

Kerri Smith

Kerri is a local gardener in Stornoway on the Isle of Lewis who was born in Ness (Isle of Lewis). We met Kerri by chance outside of our accommodation when we were in Stornoway conducting interviews for this project. After we got chatting Kerri expressed an interest in being involved which we were very excited about – the more stories the better! Kerri then walked with us up to the castle as she was on her way to a gardening class in the castle grounds and on the way we were able to feed the ducks with her. It was lovely to chat to a local and experience her daily commute up to the castle – it was through a beautiful forest which ran alongside an idyllic stream leading to the harbour. We met up the next day in the museum and Kerri told us her lockdown story which features gardening, her two very cute cats and some of the challenges surrounding the uncertainty of lockdown and the everchanging restrictions.
