Advocacy at the Scottish Parliament

We are committed to promoting and celebrating the archive sector as widely as possible. Engaging with the nation's decision makers and showcasing the importance of both historic collections and contemporary records management, is vital to ensure the sector's continued development.

In addition to regular, issue-based or direct communications with MSPs and government Ministers, SCA co-ordinates a series of high-profile awareness and advocacy activities at the Scottish Parliament. Our core purpose is to deliver a clear message: Scottish archives are the documented national memory, a unique heritage asset of unparalleled richness, depth and extent; the archives sector has a vibrant open culture that encourages wider use, exploration, learning, partnerships and innovation.
