Scotland is not a dry country, and flooding is a common problem in many areas. You will find some useful websites below to help with disaster planning and disaster.

Flood Maps

Flood Maps show areas at risk from river, coastal and surface water. They can also show flood defences and possible depths and velocity information.

Live Flooding Information

Flood Alerts and Flood warnings are a key source of information about flooding. They are updated every 15 minutes and this site is a vital resource for further information during flooding.

Floodline Scotland

This is a website provides public awareness including advice for businesses. It aims to provide information about planning, preparation as well as cleaning up after flooding. A “report-a-flood”  function is provided on the site, which is often used during flooding for people to report flooding impacts and locations so these can be shared.


Flood Risk Strategies and Flood Risk Plans

Both these sites give an overall plan on how Flood Management is planned to be dealt with over the next 6-12yrs. The strategies are supplemented by the Local Flood Risk Management plans which have been produced by the lead local authorities on what actions are planned to deal with flooding.
