Amy Laws Letters

The Amy Laws Letters project was a collaboration between Aberdeen University Special Collections and St Peter’s RC Primary school with P6 students in one class.

The students worked with education staff from Aberdeen University Special Collections to explore a collection of 19th century letters from missionary parents in Africa to their young daughter domiciled in Edinburgh.

They used drama approaches, craft activities, research and discussion to engage with the content of the letters.

On this page you will find useful downloadable documents related to the project including project activity plans, examples of children’s work and charts showing curriculum links.

For more information on the project see the Specials Collections blog post about the project.

Some documents related to Amy Laws' later life, and a list of her papers held by the Lothian Health Service Archive can both be downloaded here as well.
