Iwan Bryn James (Conservation Unit Head, Llyfrgell Genedlaethol Cymru, National Library of Wales)

Iwan started working at the National Library of Wales (NLW) in 1981, and following a four year apprenticeship in archive conservation started in the role of Conservation Officer in 1985. This role included working on a variety of Library held objects such as printed books, paper, parchment, maps and photographs. In 2002, Iwan was appointed as the NLW Preservation Unit Manager. He became an Accredited Conservator-Restorer in 2008, and was appointed Head of Conservation in 2011. In 2011 he also gained a First Class Degree in Welsh Language and Literature after attending an external degree course at Aberystwyth University.
