Fire Safety is Everyone’s Business: Scottish Fire & Rescue Service
Gavin Gray (Watch Manager – Prevention & Protection, National Fire Safety Enforcement)
Gavin has been with the Fire and Rescue Service for nearly 20 years. In that time, he has served as a firefighter at a number of city centre stations and has also worked in a number of departments, including Training and Operations. In 2006 he was seconded to the Scottish Government to work as part of a team responsible for introducing the current fire safety legislative arrangements in Scotland and related guidance. Since then, Gavin’s substantive post has been within Fire Safety Enforcement, working with business communities and others to reduce risk and achieve compliance.
Gavin's presentation was a practical-focussed session introducing the new Scottish Fire and Rescue Structure. He covered statutory duties, proactive and reactive measures and risk assessment. Gavin also explored relationship building with local fire crews and response and salvage plans. Download the presentation by clicking here or from the useful documents section.
