The Highland Archive Service is responsible for locating, preserving and making accessible archives relating to all aspects of the history of the geographical area of the Highlands. There are four archive centres which make up the Highland Archive Service. The hub of the service is the Highland Archive and Registration Centre which is based in Inverness. The three other offices are Caithness Archive Centre in Wick, Lochaber Archive Centre in Fort William and Skye and Lochalsh Archive Centre in Portree on the Isle of Skye.


Opening hours:

Highland Archive Centre: Archive Monday, Tuesday, Thursday 10:00-17:00, Wed 10:00-19:30. Family History Centre Monday-Friday (except Wednesday) 10:00-17:00, Wednesday 10:00-19:30.

Caithness Archive Centre: Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday 10:00-13:00 and 14:00-17:00.

Lochaber Archive Centre: Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday 10:00am-13:00 and 14:00-17:00.

Skye & Lochalsh Archive Centre: Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday 10:0013:00 and 14:00-17:00
