Understanding Copyright: An Introduction to Orphan Works for Archivists

Delivered in partnership with CREATe, at the University of Glasgow, Our Orphan Works workshops took place in Edinburgh (23 November 2015) and Perth (4 February 2016). They focussed on the way in which new Orphan Works legislation impacts the work of the archivist. In addition to providing an introduction to the Orphan Works licensing scheme and exception, the workshops included group exercises based on real archive collections to demonstrate the impact and application of the legislation.

You can find our more about the workshops, download the presentions and access an interesting article by one of our presenters, Kerry Patterson, about the challenges of undertaking diligent search for thousands of images with little original context.
